Founded in 1947, Bay State Building Specialties (BSBSI) has transformed the interiors of New England’s most prestigious buildings; including The Boston Public Library, The Boston Convention Center, Harvard University, Boston University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Genzyme’s World Headquarters, Massachusetts General & Children’s Hospitals, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Trinity Church, The John Hancock Tower, The Boston Celtics Training Facility, TD Garden, Yale Science Center, UMass Amherst, and many more.
Today, BSBSI is the premier supplier and installer of building specialty items for the New England construction industry and beyond. From small to large projects, BSBSI’s office and in-house field personnel offer the same high level of attention to all clients.

Over the years, our product line has expanded from chalk and tackboards, projection screens, window treatments, acoustical wall panels and now includes various other building specialty items encompassing all or most of Division 10.

BY 1960, SLATE WAS IN DECLINE AS A CHALKBOARD PRODUCT AND PORCELAIN ENAMEL STEEL WAS PREFERRED. AS A RESULT OF THIS INDUSTRY CHANGE OUR FOCUS AS A SUBCONTRACTOR IMPROVED TO PROVIDE NEW FACTORY FRAMED CHALKBOARDS AND TACKBOARDS
IN 1979, MAIN OFFICES MOVED TO BRAINTREE, MA

IN 1973, SEAN MAHONY PURCHASED BAY STATE BLACKBOARD
IN 1983, MAIN OFFICE MOVED TO QUINCY IN 1983 AND WEYMOUTH IN 1999
APRIL OF 2007 A 31,000 SQ. FT. BUILDING WAS PURCHASED IN BRAINTREE, MA AND THE COMPANY MOVED AGAIN TO A NEW LOCATION WHERE IT CURRENTLY STANDS
